For courses that require a book, the cost of the book is included in the course charge unless a non-book option is selected when registering for the course. Books are available for local pick up in the Seacoast Area or at the location the course is being held. The option to mail a book is available for an additional charge to cover the cost of postage and my trip to the Post Office.  Currently the cost to mail a book is $3.50.

The book options listed below are for mailing the book out ONLY. This is for individuals who have already registered and paid for their course. If you have not signed up for a course please do not pay to have a book mailed as the charges listed below are the costs for me to mail the book. If you want to purchase a book without registering for a course you can do so through the Authorized American Heart Association Distributors listed at the bottom of this page.

2016 Guidelines Online

2015 Guidelines

2015 Guidelines

These are the 2016 Guidelines. The link provides two ways to view the 2016 Guidelines. I recommend the web-based integrated guidelines as it provides the information in a clear format. Changes are listed in order with bullets and rationale for the changes. It is linked here as a way to assist students who may not have time to arrange to have a book in advance. Link to the document on the AHA website.

While the entire document is very good, if students are looking for suggestions on specific topic areas to read before their class I suggest:

BLS:
Please download or read sections dealing with major issues, healthcare provider BLS, electrical therapies, stroke, pediatric BLS and ethical issues.

Heartsaver CPR/AED or First Aid courses:
Please download or read sections dealing with major issues, lay rescuer adult CPR, ethical issues, First Aid.
