BLS for Healthcare Providers Courses


Heartsaver

Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone who need a course completion card for work or volunteering. This includes Childcare Providers, Afterschool programs, Teachers, Students on internships, Security Guards, Yoga Instructors, Personal Trainers, and Licensed Massage Therapists. Heartsaver CPR AED courses cover the use of barrier devices.

Unless specified on the Course Schedule, all CPR AED courses will cover Adult, Child & Infant CPR AED.

Heartsaver AED: Adult, Child & Infant CPR and use of an AED. Relief of choking & use of barrier devices
Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED: basic First Aid covering medical & environmental emergencies, injuries as well as adult, child & infant CPR and use of an AED. Relief of choking & use of barrier devices
Heartsaver First Aid: basic First Aid covering medical & environmental emergencies and injuries.
Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid with CPR and AED: basic First Aid covering medical & environmental emergencies, injuries as well as adult, child & infant CPR and use of an AED. Relief of choking & use of barrier devices. This course is tailored for participants who work with children from infants to teenagers.
Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid: basic First Aid covering medical & environmental emergencies and injuries. This course is tailored for participants who work with children from infants to teenagers.

Family & Friends

Family and Friends courses are designed for anyone who might need to provide aid to a family member or friend. This includes new parents and caregivers, babysitters, new grandparents and volunteers who would like to be more comfortable with CPR or First Aid skills, but do not need a CPR or First Aid card. These courses do not provide course completion cards

CPR for Family and Friends covers adult, child & infant CPR and relief of choking.
Family and Friends Pediatric First Aid is a basic overview of First Aid.
CPR and Pediatric First Aid for Family and Friends combines both courses into one class.

CPR for New & Expecting Parents
Are you expecting or have a young infant at home? Would you like to take a CPR or First Aid class, but aren’t comfortable finding or leaving your infant with a sitter?
CPR for New & Expecting Parents is a CPR for Family & Friends class that is tailored for new and expecting parents and caregivers. Accommodations are made in the class for expecting parents to make learning a life-saving skill a comfortable experience. Parents and caregivers of young infants and children can bring them along to the class. Breaks are taken as needed for nursing mothers, diaper changes and tending to the needs of our children. Course information includes infant, child & adult CPR, using an AED, relief of choking for infants, children & adults, child car seat safety, and several first aid topics. This program does not lead to CPR or First Aid certification, but is designed specifically for new parents to be prepared for what to do in an emergency.

BLS for Healthcare Providers

BLS for Healthcare Provider courses are designed for healthcare providers and students studying in a healthcare field.

Courses cover One and Two rescuer CPR on Adults, Children and Infants, use of the AED, using barrier devices, additional airway adjuncts, and choking. All Healthcare Provider courses include a written and practical exam.

BLS for Healthcare Providers is the full class for anyone who has never taken a BLS course before or whose certification has lapsed. This is the full 4 1/2 hour long course.
BLS for Healthcare Providers Renewal is a classroom renewal course. Course runs from 3-4 hours long.
BLS for Healthcare Providers Recert is a fast-paced accelerated renewal option. This is a hands-on course that includes practical and written material. A textbook (2010 Guidelines) is strongly recommended to review prior to the course.

BLS for Healthcare Providers Online and Heartcode Skills Session is for participants who are both renewing or taking the course for the first time. This is a 3 part course. Part 1 is taken online and includes the written exam. After successful completion of the online course participants must print their course completion certificate and then have 60 days to meet with an instructor to take Part 2 – Skills Practice and Part 3 – Skills Test. Participants must turn in the course completion certificate in order to attend the skills session. The skills session will review and test participants on their BLS skills.


Bloodborne Pathogens is a classroom course teaches participants what bloodborne pathogens are and how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. This 1-hour course is usually offered in conjunction with the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED or other Heartsaver course.
